A child is born
Cradled in his
Mother’s hands

A toddler walks
For safety holds
His father’s hand

Puppy love arrives
They walk
Hand in hand

Marriage vows
Exchanged
A wedding ring
Displayed on
His left hand

As sickness comes
The other cares
With helping hand

Old age
A walking stick
For support
Is held in hand

The cycle ends
The good Lord
Reaches out
To take his hand
