Most of you already know I make and sell crosses at local events. These events are fun, especially when I get to meet interesting people who share with me their life stories. Recently I attended an event for a group of people whom use wheelchairs. I would never be rude and ask why they use the wheelchair; however, I felt honored most wanted to share their story with me. One shared they were in an automobile accident, the other military accident, and one shared they had been in the wheelchair since birth. The most interesting person I met that day was a lovely middle-aged woman who was very easy to talk too. She told me she loved Karate, so much she wrote a book. Hearing her story gave me the inspiration for this poem. Hope you like it.
The Wheelchair
Just because I’m in a wheelchair
Don’t feel sorry for me
It’s where the good Lord put me
That’s where I need to be
I don’t question what happened
My faith is still in Him
Even though Doctors told me
My chance for recovery is thin
Doctors don’t know all the answers
Miracles happen all the time
As long as I keep hope in Jesus
One of those miracles will be mine
I’ll just keep on praying
My prayers will not be in vain
With God’s healing hands
One day, I will walk again
